Tetra Medical is a leading manufacturer and distributor of medical supplies for hospitals and clinics. It is best known for its four-ply compress, which consists of four interwoven layers of absorbent gauze.
Hydra uses its expertise in cotton processing to produce hygiene products.
Background to the deal
The group continues to grow organically, by focusing on continuously expanding its offering in medical and consumer products, and through acquisitions by capitalizing on its expertise in acquiring and integrating new businesses. Prime examples of this expertise are its acquisition of Mefra in 2000, Hydra in 2003 and Laboratoire WDS in 2007.
Growth prospects
In 2003, iXEN organized a joint management buy-out of Tetra Medical and Hydra alongside the management team. The merger of the two companies has created a leader in compresses, bandages and hygiene products for hospitals, pharmacies, medical stores and health & beauty departments of large retail stores.
